Introduction
Now that I have the low poly models down I can now make the high polys and prepare them for the next step later on, UVs. I will be honest, for both models I just smoothed them, which does what it sounds like, this was so I could make them look more realistic and to save time for the environment part of this assignment.
Skull
Okay so I thought this would be easy but you might have noticed that my low poly model of the skull is not very connected with edges, well why is that relevant? Because of N-gons, what is a N-gon? It is a shape more with more than 4 sides/edges, these make trouble for models when not avoided, one of these troubles is messing up transform tools such as the smooth tool, which is how this happened:
So yeah was quite the problem, and so I looked at the faces and what do you know, look how many N-gons are present:
And so I had to turn that, to this with the multicut tool
It looks less neat bit it is actually more neat model wise, keep in mind it has this many edges as a low poly by the way
And then I of course sorted the top aswell
Here is a photo of them together so you can see that yes I fixed all the N-gons
And since it is done here is the wireframes of the completed low poly model:

Now then I made sure to smooth the skull correctly, to get this:
Which actually looks alot better than I had expected for just using the smooth tool, but no matter, here is the wireframes of this model too:

Spear
After finding this out about the skull I was pretty prepared to see the same on the spear but no, surprisingly it had no N-gons, which let me just simply go from low to high poly
First here is the low poly wireframes:

Then I made sure to bevel the spear first, differently in different areas, this is because the smooth tool is kind of hard to adjust as it just goes in whole numbers, but beveling limits this as it splits up the faces more. And so I beveled and then smoothed to get these wireframes:

Then lastly I made sure to color code the spear as it isn’t going to be made from on material later on, and so the color coding will let me fill in these places easier in substance paint later on
Low Poly Painted
High Poly Painted
The red is for the metal of the spear, the green for the wood, the blue for the crystal and lastly the yellow is for the leather straps
